Weekly Content Update | Teaching Simple Commands & Tell Me Three Things

This Week at Gemiini

This week we have uploaded new content for teaching simple behavioral commands and a large batch of Tell me Three Things clips to encourage expanding conversation. We've also added dozens of image words for vocabulary related to miniature golf, football, and community helpers. Continue reading to find out how using these clips with your student can provide behavioral support and promote expressive language development!

Teaching Simple Commands

Our new Teaching Simple Commands clips were designed to help learners understand and respond to commonly used directives such as "Use your words," "Show me," "Give me" and "Gentle." Each directive is generalized with different actors across a variety of settings and situations. Teaching students how to respond to these directives supports meaningful social interaction and can help decrease disruptive and unsafe behaviors.

Each directive is taught in a low verbal context and these clips are appropriate for most Gemiini learners. Gemiini clips for teaching these and other simple commands can be found in Skills → Behavioral. We have plans to add more content in this format to teach directives that are frequently paired with PECs icons. Look for these in future updates!

Tell Me Three Things

Our Tell Me Three Things clips provide conversational models to support students who are learning to expand conversation by making observations and associations. In each clip, an adult prompts a child to say three things about an object. For the child to respond to the prompt, she must remember something about the object or make a new observation about it. These clips are great additions to assignments for students who are working to increase expressive language, spontaneous communication, and early writing skills

Practicing Tell Me Three Things helps learners develop the skills they need to communicate observations they make about the world. We recommend using these clips and practicing this model with students who already have a fair amount of receptive language. A QuickStart video for Tell Me Three Things is available in Level 9 of the Language Pyramid. All individual Tell Me Three Things clips are located in Spoken Language → Conversational → Encouraging Conversations → Tell Me Three Things.
