I Just Found Out My Child Has Autism... Help!
There is a grieving process that most parents go through after an autism diagnosis.
Some parents even experience short-term memory loss, loss of appetite, and depression, so even day-to-day existing can be difficult at first. As a parent wraps his or her mind around the diagnosis, the internet will be one of the first stops for information. Online research can be confusing because there's so much contradictory information and it can be overwhelming.
There is a way to make it simple and easy to start:
There are three tracks a parent will discover regarding autism treatment:
+ Therapy
+ Nutrition and diet
+ Biomedical interventions
Based on online research alone, a parent might be tempted to skip straight to the biomedical track, but that's a mistake. Biomedical is a huge field and the mothers who are deeply into this intervention are more educated than most doctors. This is the best way to make you feel completely overwhelmed. Biomedical treatments can wait while you get the first two tracks online.
The most important thing a parent can do, even when he or she first suspects the presence of autism, is to stop the clock. Here's what we mean by that:
A child has the highest probability of "recovering" and having minimal signs of autism later in life, when therapy and nutrition needs are addressed immediately at a young age. The longer therapy is delayed, the longer the autism clock runs and it becomes progressively difficult to reverse the effects as time passes.
Immediate therapy stops that clock.
The problem is that a diagnosis can take several months, or even a year, as parents must wait for doctor appointments and referrals. Once the diagnosis is complete, another six months can pass before therapy room opens up.
There is a worldwide shortage of therapists and many newly diagnosed children with autism are placed on a waiting list for therapy.
Tick. Tock.
Using Gemiini is a research-proven effective way to start therapy now and stop that clock.
Signing up for Gemiini takes two minutes. After signing up you’ll see a prompt to schedule a 15 minute call that will teach you the basics of Gemiini and save you hours of time. It's literally as easy as this:
Register
Log on
Have a call
Two clicks
Therapy started and clock stopped
Video therapy has even been shown in published research to be more effective than live therapy. Gemiini video therapy is like programming the brain and preparing it for appropriate speech and behavior skills as the child grows. (You can read the studies here.)
That said, Gemiini is NOT a replacement for live therapy. While Gemiini is the best way to teach language and reading, live therapy is required to get the students to talk and engage in vocal verbal speech. If your child doesn’t have access to live therapy right now, then you as a parent can generalize the videos to get things moving.
We will show you how.
Diet can also be an essential factor. A gluten-free casein-free diet (no wheat or milk-based foods) has helped many children with autism, but not all kids respond. We recommend switching to almond or coconut milk (avoid soy) and adding white and brown rice to the diet. Breakfast cereals can include Chex or Corn Flakes with added berries. Don't worry about adding variety at first. Rice, veggies, and meat are great even if they are eaten every day.
Also, it's imperative to add a vitamin supplement to make sure you child gets his or her proper nutrition. Look for vitamins made exclusively for children on the spectrum.
Perhaps the most important to thing to remember if you suspect autism or have a new diagnosis is that you're not alone. One in 45 children is on the spectrum, and parents around the world are going through the same emotions and embarking on the same path. You have support and you have the tools you need to help your child succeed.
