Welcome back! This week I'll be covering our newest social skills clips and a batch of Games & Toys image words we've added to the site. After the update I'll be going over how you can customize your student's assignments by adding clips from the Gemiini library.

I recently found out about an online video-based program called Gemiini that has helped thousands of non-verbal and low-verbal kids learn to speak—including kids with autism, Down Syndrome, and language delays.

We added a small batch of clips that model responding to prompts to write neatly during work time. In each clip, an adult prompts a student who is hastily working through an assignment to take her time and write legibly. The adult then provides an example of what writing neatly looks like and reinforces the student's behavior with lots of praise when the student follows her example.

My name is Johnathan. I'm one of the script writers at Gemiini. I'm passionate about education and about using technology to bring learning opportunities to everyone. I worked in special education before I joined the Gemiini team, and now I'm using what I learned from my students to help make clips for the Gemiini library!

Gemiini has become an everyday word in our household over the last three months. It was by pure accident that we stumbled upon this gem. We were browsing the net for some schools that are actually inclusive, and not just advertising to be inclusive just to make a few extra bucks. We came across a school that says they specifically use the Gemiini program to aid their students in vocal communication, reading and social skills – We hadn’t heard of this before so naturally we investigated this further.

For the millions of Americans living with a disability, it can be stressful and overwhelming to try and find employment. These individuals are often discriminated against or passed over for a job simply because of their disability, even when they are willing and able to work. It’s for that reason--among others--that so many disabled Americans are trying their hand at starting their own business.
